Japanese basic lesson 1

I will be more than happy if you could subscribe my channel!

Let’s start the first session of the beginner’s course in Japanese language learning.

The most important thing to remember in learning Japanese is that the subject is omitted.

If two people, Ken and Yoshio, are having a conversation, and Ken asks Yoshio a question, Ken is asking for Yoshio’s opinion of course.

けん「きのうテレビ見た?」よしお「見てない。なんか面白いのあった?」

If you write it as it appears in the Japanese text

けん「あなたは昨日テレビをみましたか?」

よしお「いいえ、私は見ていません。テレビでなにか面白いものがありましたか?」

But no one has this kind of conversation in a close relationship.

けん「きのうテレビ見た?」

You can forcefully rephrase “Yesterday TV watched? ” in English The word “you" is omitted.

There is no such thing as “Did".

よしお「見てない。なんか面白いのあった?」

Watched not. Something interesting exist?

There is no such thing as “Is". When two people are talking, “you" and" I" are omitted.

And the important thing is not to convert English directly into Japanese.

The shortcut to improve your Japanese is to take apart the English, rearrange it in Japanese word order, and learn the strange English.

For example I want to eat an apple.

Japanese English learners always make mistake as they write I want to eat apple.

Japanese people really don’t care about the singular or plural.

So the first thing to start with is “I want to eat apple.”

Try not to put a, an, the. Forget about them.

And in Japanese word order, it is Apple eat want to, with the “I" omitted. Appleをeatたい!

Now, let’s review today’s lesson.

There are two important things to remember.

1. Keep in mind that Japanese people often omit the subject.

2 Don’t try to convert English directly into Japanese.

Rearrange the English without the subject and article and apply it to Japanese. That was it for today’s lesson.
